This study of Italian authors prepared under the supervision of Paolo Savona, the economic politics professor of the Luiss Guido Carli University (Rome), and Carlo Jean, the corpus general and the president of the Center of High Research of the Italian Defense Ministry (Rome), provides grounds for the introduction of “geoeconomics” as a term in scientific discourse. This book interprets geoeconomics as a subject studying those aspects of international competition where states, and not corporations, trusts or banks, are main actors. The proposed geopolitical interpretation of the global development pushes into the foreground the analysis of the economic and geopolitical processes from the point of view of interstate competition. “Geoeconomics is an economic geopolitics which is replacing the predominantly military geopolitics of the past,” – the authors note in the preface to the Russian edition. – “Geoeconomics itself, its laws and mechanisms form the paradigm of the administrative and legal organization of the state. That is why the study of it acquires crucial significance for the reform of the modern state.”
