A large biography of John Maynard Keynes, the greatest economist of the 20th century, is 1500 pages long all in all. Robert Skidelsky, the author of these two volumes (the School already published his book titled The Road from Serfdom: The Economic and Political Consequences of the End of Communism) was awarded the Knighthood of Great Britain. This book which was published in the West in 2003 combines the genres of fundamental scientific analysis and of a fascinating multilevel novel involving about five hundred characters. The first volume covers Kaynes’s life from 1883 to 1931, and the second – from 1931 to 1946.
